Map options

Show arrival-height ruler: when checked, the arrival-height ruler is drawn centered on the next waypoint.

Show validated waypoints: when cleared, the route waypoint already validated are not drawn in the map.

Show track: enables/disables the display of the track log.

Show heading line: when checked, a dashed line showing your heading is drawn starting from the paraglider icon.

Show all waypoints: all the waypoints in the CompetitionPilot memory are drawn in the map with their short name.

Track-up, quasi track-up, North-up

The map can drawn with three different orientations: track-up, quasi track-up o North-up. The map of each stored configuration can be individually configured: from the display-setup page (menu: Options/Display SetUp), choose from the list the configuration that you want to modify and select the menu: Options/Map. It is important to remind that the changes you make will be applied only to the map in the selected configuration.

The quasi track-up setting allows deviations of the track from the vertical direction of +/- 20 degrees. In this way CompetitionPilot does not have to draw the whole map for small changes of heading, improving readability and execution speed.

Thermal zoom

When circling in a thermal CompetitionPilot can change the map scale to a preset value to help in centering the thermal. This can be done by checking the Autozoom in thermal option. Also in this case, this can be enabled/disabled individually in each display configuration. The map scale is choosen from the drop-down list Map scale.

By enabling the Color track in thermal you can have the track drawn as dots whose color and size will depend on the climb rate. Red corresponds to an istantaneous vertical speed greater than twice the average recorded climb rate; blue correspond to a very small vertical speed.

On 2-bit-display devices (such as the m105) that can show only two levels of grey plus black and white, the track will be drawn as darker (lighter) squares for high (low) climb rates.

Air-referenced track: compensating for the wind drift

Ground-referenced track:

Air-referenced track:

When this option is enabled and you are circling in a thermal, the track is drawn relative to the air rather than to the ground. In this way the wind-induced drift is compensated for and centering the thermal is much more intuitive.
